thanks for the help guys, but none of this worked. Its still hanging up trying to load the login screen. I guess i will just not use EVE on my laptop, and have to stick to just my desktop

when i type 'wine eve.exe' in the terminal, i get: wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\plugplay.exe" wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\eve.exe" why would it look in the system32 file for the .exe file?

I installed directx9, which i thought was already there but i installed it anyway. Im back to where i started now...the incrsion start up screen comes up, but once the client starts, and it tries to take me to the log in screen, the screen goes b...

after trying the fixes you suggested, eve will now not open at all. i open it in the emulated window, then get the error message that eve.exe has encountered a error and needs to close

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 I also installed wine and winetricks I downloaded and installed eve with no problems or errors. I start up the program, and the initial Incursion window comes up, BUT, once the program comes up the screen goes black...
